Uh, was that guy singing a duet with his younger self? If so, that may be one of the best demonstrations imaginable why boy sopranos were considered by many composers to be the purest voices around. No wonder the best ones had their balls cut off for art not so long ago.

Merry Xmas.

I think it was a tape of when he was young. I gotta research this boy soprano thing, having been one.

Did you notice, the kid cupped the high note, twice. Otherwise, really nice intonation.

Yes, you're right. This is indeed a duet of Aled Jones as a baritone duetting with himself as a boy soprano, and as far as we know, it's the first time anyone has ever recorded a duet of this kind.

Aled has now recorded four such tracks..."Tell Me Boy", "O Holy Night", "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind" and very recently with the Howard Blake song that made Aled so famous when he was almost 15, "Walking in the Air". This fabulous new duet is on his latest album "You Raise Me Up : The Best of Aled Jones" released in the UK earlier this month (Dec 2006)

Aled is a 36 yr old Welsh baritone who had a spectacular 4 yr career from the ages of 12 to 16, releasing 16 stunning albums in those 4 yrs, selling an outstanding 6 million records. He launched his increasingly successful nadult career in 2002 and has recorded 5 magnificent albums to date with a further album due for release in June 2007 and a contract with Universal Classics and Jazz for another 6 albums following that.

His third CD is called 'The Christmas Album' which has the most superb collection of Christmas carols. Forget the evergreens of Bing and Elvis and the other cliched albums of Christmas....Aled's is the essential Christmas album to own.

Seek all of Aled's albums out...he has an extraordinarily gorgeous voice that will touch your soul.
